CHIEF OF POLICE

ROBERT G. MATHENY

Chief Robert G. Matheny has over 25 years of law enforcement experience.  He served 20 years with the Clarksburg Police Department before his retirement in 2009.  At retirement, Chief Matheny held the rank of Lieutenant and served as the Department’s Administrative Lieutenant.  In 2009 Chief Matheny was honored to receive the appointment of Chief of Police for the City of Wheeling, WV.

Chief Matheny is a 1987 graduate of the WV State Police Academy, 63rd Basic Class, as well as a 2008 graduate of the FBI National Academy, 234^th Session.  He has received hundreds of hours of in-service training in the law enforcement field, with an emphasis in the area of investigative techniques.  Chief Matheny is a certified Police Officer, Firefighter, Scuba Diver, and S.W.A.T. Officer.
